I support the study, design, and construction of a fixed crossing — either a bridge, tunnel, or hybrid — connecting Bridgeport, Connecticut to the Sunken Meadow Parkway on Long Island, New York. A direct Long Island Sound crossing would improve regional mobility, reduce congestion through New York City, strengthen economic ties between Connecticut and Long Island, and create new opportunities for job growth, tourism, and commerce. This project should be explored using modern engineering, environmental safeguards, and user-funded financing models to ensure minimal taxpayer burden while delivering long-term transportation and economic benefits to both states.
