A SOUND VISION
FOR THE FUTURE

ABOUT US

The Connecticut - Long Island Initiative is a 501(c)4 non-profit that educates and advocates for infrastructure and transportation improvements between the state of Connecticut and Long Island, New York, particularly between Interstate 95 in Bridgeport, CT, and the Sunken Meadow Parkway on Long Island.

Founded in 2026 by Connecticut native Stephen Shapiro, the group seeks to work with local, state, and federal authorities, as well as community leaders, to advance transit opportunities.

For decades, Connecticut and New York have discussed ideas to improve transit systems in the tristate, including a bridge or tunnel between Connecticut and Long Island. These efforts have sought to eliminate traffic, travel time, and CO2 emissions. This connector would also create a new economic corridor, allowing for more economic opportunity and mobility.

A bridge or tunnel linking project would have substantial impact on Nassau and Suffolk Counties on Long Island, and Fairfield and New Haven Counties in Connecticut, particularly revitalizing the state's most populated city of Bridgeport.

We encourage those who are interested to get involved and advocate for this infrastructure and economic advancement that will move New York and Connecticut into the future.
